London based artificial intelligence startup Polaron has secured £5.8m in funding led by Racine2 to develop its materials science intelligence layer. The financing round saw participation from Speedinvest, Futurepresent and unnamed angel investors from the industrial technology sector.
Originally spun out from Imperial College London, the company applies machine learning models to microscopy data to connect manufacturing processes with material performance. The fresh capital will be directed towards expanding the engineering team and accelerating the deployment of generative design tools for industrial customers.
The business has already deployed its platform with major electric vehicle manufacturers, achieving measurable improvements in battery electrode energy density.
