PlaqueTec secures £6.4m from Lord Moynihan of Chelsea and the Future Fund to advance coronary artery disease research
The funding will support the ongoing BIOPATTERN trial and the expansion of the BIOCARTA database.
PlaqueTec is a medical technology company developing intracoronary liquid biopsy techniques to uncover inflammatory drivers of cardiovascular disease. The firm builds proprietary proteomic datasets to support targeted therapeutic development and patient stratification.
PlaqueTec has raised £6.4m in equity financing to advance its research into coronary artery disease treatments. The investment was led by Lord Moynihan of Chelsea alongside the Future Fund, with backing from existing shareholders. The capital will be deployed to progress the ongoing BIOPATTERN clinical trial and further develop the BIOCARTA bioinformatics platform.
The company uses a proprietary blood sampling device called the Liquid Biopsy System to gather biomolecules directly from the site of coronary plaque. By correlating these samples with genomic, imaging, and biochemical data, PlaqueTec aims to categorise patients into distinct disease endotypes and enable targeted therapeutic interventions.
