Phycobloom secures pre-seed funding from the Zero Carbon Fund to advance algae biofuels

Phycobloom is a biotechnology firm engineering algae to produce affordable, carbon-neutral biofuels.

Phycobloom has secured pre-seed funding led by the Zero Carbon Fund to support its work on algae-based biofuels.

The capital will allow the company to advance its research in gene editing and construct laboratory-scale prototypes for commercial validation. Zero Carbon Fund director Pippa Gawley will join the company board as an investor director following the oversubscribed transaction.

The investment marks the second deployment from the Zero Carbon Fund, which focuses on early-stage climate mitigation technologies.
