Peripear raises £1.2m pre-seed funding to automate labour compress care
HERmesa led the pre-seed round, which includes backing from multiple institutional investors and Innovate UK grants.

Peripear has secured £1.2m in pre-seed funding led by HERmesa to advance its wearable device for reducing childbirth injuries. The capital injection also drew participation from Zinc, SyndicateRoom, Mint, InvestinWomen, Femtech Lab, and several angel investors, alongside non-dilutive grant funding from Innovate UK.
The company addresses the widespread issue of perineal tearing during vaginal births by automating the application of warm compresses, a clinically proven method that is frequently neglected due to time constraints on busy labour wards. The proceeds will fund clinical trials, regulatory compliance, and product development, including planned First-in-Human testing in collaboration with NUHS Singapore.
Co-founded by NHS midwife Nina van Schaick and medtech entrepreneur Eviatar Natan, the startup aims to integrate best practice standards directly into routine maternity care.
