Oxford Nanopore Technologies develops DNA and RNA sequencing solutions used across scientific research and public health applications. Founded in 2005 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford, the business provides technology to characterise pathogens and advance biomedical science.
Oxford Nanopore has secured £84.4m in a Series H+ investment round from a mix of existing backers and new participants including International Holdings Company, RPMI Railpen and RT Puhua Genomics. The capital will be directed towards scaling up commercial and manufacturing activities alongside ongoing research into nanopore technology.
The firm has experienced rising demand for its sequencing platforms, which have found application in areas ranging from human genetics to pathogen detection. Recent efforts include the development and deployment of the LamPORE test for COVID-19 as the company pursues wider regulatory clearance internationally.
