An Imperial College London spinout developing cementless 3D-printed partial knee implants designed to encourage natural bone growth.

OSSTEC, a London-based medical technology startup, has secured £2.5m in funding led by Empirical Ventures. The capital will support the commercial launch of the company's cementless partial knee implants, which use 3D-printed structures to promote natural bone fixation and reduce failure rates in younger patients.

Founded in 2021 as a spinout from Imperial College London, OSSTEC builds upon a decade of underlying research. The firm's technology aims to address high revision rates associated with traditional cemented knee replacements by offering customisable implants that integrate with bone and robotic surgical systems.

The latest investment follows a seed round in March 2023 and brings total funding past £3m, bolstered by prior backing from various syndicates and innovation awards.
