OpusVL secures £790k grant from Innovate UK to develop open source healthcare applications.

OpusVL is an established open source software integrator that develops tailored digital technology solutions for public and private sector clients. The firm operates from its headquarters in Rugby, Warwickshire.
OpusVL has secured a government grant of £790k from Innovate UK to lead a consortium developing re-usable open source applications for the UK healthcare sector. The funds will support a 19-month project focused on creating a digital electronic observation solution to identify deteriorating patients and calculate the National Early Warning Score.
The initiative brings together clinical partners, academic rigour, and technological expertise to build clinician-led open software. The project aims to optimise patient care, establish a blueprint for NHS software design, and reduce software licence costs across the health service.
The work involves evaluating current working practices with medical staff, testing solutions in a hospital simulator, and conducting field trials across two NHS Trusts before concluding with a final report.
