Cardiff-based African restaurant ONJA has secured a £25k micro loan from the Development Bank of Wales to help cover start-up costs. The funding has supported the fit-out of the new establishment on Barrack Lane, which accommodates around 40 covers and provides both dine-in and takeaway options.
Founded by Justina John, the venture introduces authentic Tanzanian cuisine to the local dining scene. John, a long-term Cardiff resident raised in Tanzania, utilized the financing to transition from her career and launch the restaurant.
The capital was provided through the Wales Flexible Investment Fund, managed by the Development Bank of Wales and backed by the Welsh Government. The programme provides investment ranging from £25k to £10m for businesses across Wales.
