Occuity develops non-invasive optical instruments that use the eye to screen for and monitor chronic conditions. Its diagnostic technology aims to transform healthcare delivery through ocular screening.

Medical technology start-up Occuity has secured £2.9m in a Series A funding round hosted on the Seedrs crowdfunding platform. The campaign drew participation from more than 850 investors across 37 countries, exceeding its initial £1.8m target within 24 hours.

The capital will support the company as it advances the development of the Occuity Indigo, a non-contact optical glucose meter. The device uses optical confocal scanning to measure glucose levels via the eye, aiming to replace traditional finger-prick testing for diabetes patients.

Occuity collaborates with academic and clinical institutions, including the Royal Berkshire Hospital and the University of Bristol. The company holds multiple granted patents for its measurement techniques, which also have potential applications in screening for conditions such as glaucoma, myopia, and Alzheimer's disease.
