Nua Surgical has secured €6.5m in a Series A financing round led by EQT Life Sciences through its EQT Health Economics strategy. The raise included participation from Texas Medical Center Venture Fund, Kidron Capital, Enterprise Ireland, and private business figures from Ireland and the US.
The capital will support the company as it advances toward the early commercialisation of SteriCISION, its flagship C-section retractor. Funds will be directed toward expanding the team, establishing domestic manufacturing operations, and securing regulatory clearances from the FDA.
Founded in 2019 at the University of Galway, the medtech firm aims to address common complications in Caesarean procedures, such as wound trauma and infection risks. Alongside the funding transaction, EQT representative Anne Portwich and Kidron Capital principal Anula Jayasuriya have joined the company board.
