Edge led the £4.4m financing round to accelerate the company's international growth and technology development.
Mindtech Global develops synthetic data platforms that help train artificial intelligence vision systems. Its technology generates realistic virtual imagery to reduce development costs and compliance risks.
Mindtech Global has raised £4.4m in a funding round led by Edge, with participation from Mercia Ventures. The company will use the capital to advance its technology platform and expand its footprint in key international markets including the US, Japan and Europe.
The Sheffield-based firm creates synthetic datasets through its Chameleon platform, addressing data scarcity and privacy concerns in computer vision development. Its tools allow developers to train models without introducing demographic bias or infringing data protection laws.
The investment arrives as demand for synthetic training data accelerates across sectors such as retail, healthcare and robotics. Industry analysts project that synthetic data will dominate artificial intelligence training models by 2025.
Investor perspective
"We are delighted to back Mindtech's vision. Their ethical, GDPR-compliant, synthetic data platform solves the global data scarcity issue highlighted by Gartner, enabling the promise of AI vision to be realised 10x faster than before."
