SFC Capital led the pre-seed round for the maternal health artificial intelligence platform.
Matresa operates a clinical grade preventative maternal health platform providing early screening and diagnostics for women from conception to postpartum. The technology offers continuous, personalised support during matrescence and helps employers maintain continuity during maternity leave.
Maternal health technology company Matresa has secured £315k in pre-seed funding to accelerate the development and rollout of its platform. The investment was led by SFC Capital.
Set to launch this summer, the clinical grade platform uses behavioural science and AI-powered insights to deliver early screening and preventative care. The funding arrives as UK maternal deaths reach high levels, with one in five women experiencing serious complications following childbirth.
The capital will support the company as it scales its operations to address preventable maternal health issues, which cost the economy billions each year in lost productivity and healthcare spending.
Investor perspective
"SFC Capital was delighted to lead this investment round in Matresa. We made this investment given the talent and strength of Mari-Carmen and the growing problem that the company is solving. She has demonstrated to us tenacity and determination in all our interactions, all of which suggest to us that she is 100% committed to improving maternal health for women everywhere."
