Living Map secures £750k debt from Innovate UK to advance indoor mapping software

The government agency loan will help the navigation technology firm accelerate product development.

£750KDebt

Living Map builds indoor and outdoor digital mapping software that enables accurate mobile navigation inside complex buildings without GPS signals. The firm serves airports, hospitals, and cultural venues with advanced wayfinding systems.

Living Map has secured a £750k loan from Innovate UK to accelerate the development of its indoor positioning technology. The fresh capital will allow the firm to refine its software for rapid integration across multiple devices and sites. This financing follows previous support from government grants and existing backers Mercia and Committed Capital, positioning the business for broader commercial deployment.

The company's proprietary platform solves the persistent challenge of GPS denial in subterranean and large indoor spaces, such as airports and hospitals. Recent deployments include passenger guidance systems at Heathrow and wayfinding tools for the Royal United Hospital in Bath during the pandemic. With the new loan, Living Map aims to widen access to its developer tools for both indoor navigation and asset tracking.

From the founder

"Digital maps have become part of everyday life for many but using them indoors still poses problems, given the lack of reliable positioning. Our platform overcomes this, providing a better experience for vistors to any large complex spaces, whilst enabling better decisions by operators. This loan will further help us to fast track its development and open up global opportunities for Living Map."
