Manchester-based social media startup encouraging in-person connections and real-world networking among users.

Manchester-based social media startup Linkup has secured $540k in a pre-seed funding round backed by a cohort of angels, athletes, and musicians. Notable participants in the raise include music duo Krept and Konan, YouTuber Callum Airey, and digital agency Tappable.

The newly acquired capital will be directed towards finalising app development and preparing for a commercial launch later in the year. Linkup aims to counter screen fatigue by helping users transition from online discovery to real-life socialising.

The application is scheduled for release in the final quarter of 2022, following an initial open pre-registration period. Founders Jack Peagam and Ben Whatson established the venture in 2021 after noting the post-pandemic appetite for tangible community engagement.
