London-based ethical jewellery brand crafting fine pieces using lab-grown diamonds and recycled gold.

London-based lab-grown diamond jewellery startup Kimaï has secured £250k in funding from entrepreneur Steven Bartlett on the BBC television programme Dragons' Den. The investment marks the largest sum Bartlett has committed since joining the show. Kimaï produces fine jewellery using lab-grown diamonds and recycled gold, aiming to modernise a traditional sector through sustainable practices and direct consumer appeal.

The founders, childhood friends Sidney Neuhaus and Jessica Warch, launched the brand after noticing a lack of modern, women-focused fine jewellery. The company has previously attracted high-profile support from public figures including Meghan Markle. The new capital will support the company as it continues to scale its operations.

Investor perspective

"I am clearly realising that I can’t apply the usual metrics to value a business to value this business. Because you have raised big funds, at a very high valuation, long before you were profitable."
