Kick Sport raises £250k from Catapult Growth Fund to launch Umkiki subsidiary.
The funding was provided by Midlands investor Catapult Growth Fund to support the launch of a new club partnership platform.
Kick Sport is a UK based online martial arts retailer that is launching Umkiki, a white labelled e commerce platform for martial arts clubs and associations.
Kick Sport has secured £250k in funding from Catapult Growth Fund to support the development and launch of its new subsidiary, Umkiki.
The investment will enable the Peterborough company to roll out a white labelled version of its retail platform, allowing martial arts clubs and associations to earn commission on sales made directly to their members without managing stock or shipping.
Catapult Investment Director Ed Wass noted that the firm is well positioned for expansion following its initial success as an online retailer in the martial arts sector.

We believe the Umkiki business model will be very attractive to our potential partners because they will be able to run their own web-shop linked to Umkiki, but customized to reflect their own site. Sports clubs, instructors and associations will receive commission on all sales, without any of the associated problems and risks of running an e-retail business with money ‘tied-up’ in stock, shipping and processing issues, as well as order processing and returns."
