Keenan Recycling secures £2.2m from BGF to fund Central Belt expansion

Keenan Recycling has secured £2.2m from BGF to accelerate its growth across Scotland. The funding will support the company as it scales operations in the Central Belt, where it already services hundreds of commercial clients.
The family-run waste management business processes tens of thousands of tonnes of organic waste annually into quality compost. Regulatory changes in Scotland mandating food waste separation have driven rapid client acquisition for the firm.
BGF has taken a minority equity stake in the business alongside the investment. The transaction also sees seasoned industry figure Jim Clark join the board as chairman.

"We’ve seen our number of clients more than triple from 600 to in excess of 2,000 since the Scottish Government introduced its waste regulations in January 2014, which means that all local councils have to collect food waste and all businesses that produce more than 50kg a week can’t send their leftover food to landfill sites."
