Investa secures £700k in an oversubscribed crowdfunding campaign to support its trading app launch.
The oversubscribed crowdfunding campaign drew more than 500 participants and closed six days ahead of schedule.
Investa operates a zero-commission options trading platform designed to open up complex financial derivatives for retail traders in the UK. The mobile application removes traditional barriers by offering cash-only accounts and simplified trade interfaces.
Investa has secured £700k through an oversubscribed crowdfunding campaign that closed six days ahead of schedule after reaching capacity in less than two weeks. More than 500 investors participated in the round, following an earlier raise of over £1m from serial entrepreneurs, traders, and hedge fund chief executives.
The capital will be directed towards supporting product development and scaling marketing operations ahead of the platform launch. The firm recently appointed Ian Fuller, co-founder and former chief technology officer of Freetrade, to develop the technical user experience.
Co-founder and chief executive Alec Beasley noted the low participation in options trading among UK investors compared to the US market. The company aims to address this imbalance by simplifying access to financial markets.
From the founder
"We estimate that only 2% of UK investors have traded an option compared to 20% in the US, so there’s a clear opportunity to bridge this gap. With Investa, we are aiming to make the options market more accessible, and the incredible interest in our first crowdfunding campaign proves that there are investors out there who want what we are offering."
