Formed in 2010 and based in Edinburgh with design teams in Glasgow, Ingenious Audio develops patented Wi-Fi audio technology. The firm specialises in high performance wireless audio solutions for live music, gaming, and virtual reality applications.

Edinburgh-based Ingenious Audio has raised a six-figure funding package from Kelvin Capital, The Scottish Investment Bank, and e2c to commercialise its patented Fi-Live Wi-Fi audio technology. The capital will enable the firm to secure new licensing partners and expand the application of its core technology into wireless television speakers, gaming, and virtual reality.

Fi-Live is positioned as a superior alternative to Bluetooth, offering extended range, higher fidelity, and faster transmission rates while connecting directly to standard wireless networks in consumer devices. The investment follows a record year for Kelvin Capital, which completed 11 portfolio transactions totalling £12.5m during 2019.

From the founder

"In applications like mobile phones, with companies looking to remove headphone and power connectors, it’s increasingly difficult for musicians and other users to interact with these massively powerful and convenient devices, and with the developments in the next generation of Wi-Fi bringing massive data capability over huge physical areas, the future applications for real time audio streaming over Wi-Fi are vast across music, entertainment and communications"
