The acquisition integrates advanced live video studio tools into the Hopin platform while maintaining standalone services for independent creators.
Hopin provides a shared experiences platform that lets organisations host virtual, hybrid and in-person events. The remote-first company operates globally from its London headquarters.
Virtual events platform Hopin has acquired live video streaming studio StreamYard for £184.3m to enhance its video production capabilities. The transaction combines Hopin with a company known for its browser-based streaming tools used by creators and corporations alike. StreamYard will maintain its standalone offerings for independent creators while integrating its technology directly into Hopin events.
Following the acquisition, StreamYard co-founders Geige Vandentop and Dan Briggs will join Hopin to oversee their existing team and assist with product expansion. The deal marks Hopin's second acquisition in its first year of operation as the remote-first company scales rapidly to meet soaring demand for digital events.
From the founder
"When I founded Hopin, I wanted to replicate all the best aspects of physical events — from one-on-one networking to exploring an expo — and more. As Hopin became the go-to virtual venue for event organizers, the next product to add was professional-quality video production, so I’ve long had my eye on the advanced studio tools that StreamYard provides,"
