Greenworkx is a climate-focused educational technology start-up building training and matching platforms to support the net-zero workforce. The firm aims to bridge skills gaps in sustainable industries by connecting jobseekers with accessible careers.

London-based educational technology start-up greenworkx has secured £600k in a pre-seed funding round to develop its training and job-matching platform. Mangrove Capital Partners led the investment, with participation from Ada Ventures and a roster of angel investors.

The capital will support the company as it tackles the green skills shortage by creating accessible learning tools for non-traditional audiences. greenworkx seeks to address both awareness and training speed issues in the sustainable sector, connecting workers with well-paid retrofit and green roles.

The funding follows the enrolment of the company's first learners into introductory courses aimed at career changers from diverse professional backgrounds. Founders Mat Ilic and Richard Ng established the start-up with a long-term goal of placing millions of people into green jobs.

From the founder

"The problem is two-fold. Firstly, there is an awareness issue – these are highly accessible, meaningful and well-paid jobs but people are unaware that they pay well or that they even exist. Secondly, the current training systems in place cannot deliver at the speed and scale required,"
