SoftBank has injected over $450m into British semiconductor developer Graphcore. The fresh capital follows SoftBank's 2024 acquisition of the company and marks a major continuation of support for the chipmaker.

Founded in Bristol, Graphcore specialises in intelligence processing units built to handle complex machine learning tasks. The latest funding arrives as the business works to rebuild and scale its commercial operations under its Japanese owner.

Graphcore is currently pursuing wider international growth, including plans for a large AI campus in Bengaluru. The firm intends to build out its engineering workforce across multiple technical disciplines to support future silicon development.
