Cornish agri-tech business Glas Data develops cloud-based dashboard solutions to simplify data management for farmers and food producers.

Cornish agri-tech company Glas Data has secured £141k in pre-seed equity funding from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Investment Fund. The capital will support the business as it pursues customer acquisition and further research and development.

Founded in 2018 by Colin Phillipson and Rob Sanders, the firm has created GlasCore, a cloud-based dashboard that aggregates disparate agricultural data onto a single screen for farmers and food producers. The platform allows users to monitor metrics ranging from soil nutrients to weather conditions on mobile devices.

The investment arrives as the company employs seven staff following several years of rapid expansion. The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Investment Fund provides finance ranging from £25k to £2m to growing enterprises in the region.

From the founder

"There is a lot of pressure on farmers and food producers to become more efficient and increase productivity. Adopting technology is crucial, but there is a risk that the amount of data generated by new technology will become overwhelming. Our GlasCore dashboard helps by pulling all of the data about a farm or food production business into one easy to use and simple to understand screen,"
