Gaussion raises $28m from BGF and AlbionVC to expand magnetic battery technology

Gaussion develops magnetic charging technology designed to accelerate charging speeds and extend the lifespan of existing lithium-ion batteries without altering their chemistry.
Gaussion has secured $28m in fresh capital to scale its magnetic charging technology across automotive, aerospace, and data centre applications. The funding round was co-led by BGF and AlbionVC, with additional participation from Autotech Ventures, UCL Technology Fund, DN Capital, and Future Ventures. This latest injection brings the total capital raised by the London-based startup to more than $44m.
Evolving from University College London and the Faraday Institution, the firm has developed hardware and software solutions designed to lift performance constraints across standard lithium-ion packs. The proceeds will be directed towards expanding commercial deployments for products such as MagLiB and Aeon.
The raise highlights growing venture interest in power infrastructure bottlenecks as artificial intelligence and electric vehicles place unprecedented strain on global electricity supplies. BGF's participation in the syndicate also pushed its cumulative investment past £5bn across the UK and Ireland since 2011.
