Gaussion raises $12m in Series A funding led by Autotech Ventures to scale its rapid battery charging technology.
The London-based University College London spin-out secured backing from Autotech Ventures, UCL Technology Fund, and BGF to fund its commercial market entry.

London-based battery technology company Gaussion has secured $12m in Series A funding to support its market entry, commercial production, and potential technology licensing. The investment round was led by Autotech Ventures, with participation from existing backers UCL Technology Fund and BGF.
Founded in 2017 as a spin-out from University College London, Gaussion has developed a method that applies an external magnetic field during charge and discharge cycles. This approach directs ions within standard commercial battery cells to achieve rapid charging while simultaneously reducing cell degradation and extending operational lifespan.
The fresh capital will allow the company to transition its laboratory innovations into commercial deployment, targeting applications across transportation electrification, construction equipment, and energy storage systems. The funding addresses a persistent bottleneck in the electric vehicle market, where slow charging speeds and battery wear continue to hinder mass adoption.
