Fusion Processing secures £6.6m to develop autonomous hydrogen HGVs

Fusion Processing has secured £6.6m in government and industry funding to develop a zero-emission autonomous heavy goods vehicle. The financing was awarded through the Center for Connected Autonomous Vehicles, supporting a collaborative project named Hub2Hub alongside partners including HVS and ASDA. The initiative will build and test hydrogen-electric autonomous prototypes on UK roads.
The project aims to address haulage challenges such as driver shortages and carbon emissions by deploying advanced sensor and artificial intelligence technology. Road trials involving ASDA are scheduled to begin in 2024, utilizing the company's CAVStar automated drive system to demonstrate hub-to-hub logistics.
