University of Bristol spin-out developing rapid diagnostic platforms to identify bacterial infections and support appropriate antibiotic prescriptions.

Bristol-based diagnostics developer FluoretiQ has secured £1.1m in pre-series A funding to manufacture trial units for its rapid urinary tract infection detection device. The capital injection will allow the firm to advance production of its proprietary NANOPLEX platform, which delivers laboratory-quality results for bacterial infections in a fraction of standard times.

The investment was led by Deepbridge Capital, with contributions from MAINStream, OION, SAIC, and existing backers. The fresh funds arrive as global concerns mount regarding antimicrobial resistance, positioning the company to address pressing clinical needs for fast diagnostic tools.
