EnsiliTech raises £1.2m in pre-seed funding to eliminate vaccine cold chain storage.
The pre-seed round was led by Science Angel Syndicate and Fink Family Office to develop cold chain-free vaccine technology.
EnsiliTech develops room temperature stabilisation technology for vaccines and biologics using silica shell encapsulation. The Bristol based biotech startup aims to eliminate cold chain dependency in pharmaceutical logistics.
EnsiliTech, a Bristol-based biopharmaceuticals company, has raised £1.2m in pre-seed funding. The round was led by Science Angel Syndicate and Fink Family Office, with additional participation from QantX, Elbow Beach Capital, angel investors, and Innovate UK. The company will use the capital to advance the development of its technology designed to eliminate the need for vaccine refrigeration.
The startup focuses on ensilication, a process that creates protective silica layers around biological materials to prevent thermal damage. This method aims to maintain the integrity of vaccines at temperatures ranging from -20C to +80C, addressing significant global wastage and cold chain infrastructure costs.
From the founder
"Our goal are to make the transportation of vaccines and other life-saving biological materials more efficient and cost-effective while also reducing the carbon footprint of this critical supply chain. We are thrilled to have the support of our investors as we work towards this mission."
