Echion Technologies develops and supplies niobium-based anode materials that enable lithium-ion batteries to charge rapidly and maintain high performance. The company serves cell manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers across heavy-duty industrial and mass-transport sectors.
Echion Technologies has secured £29m in a Series B funding round led by Volta Energy Technologies, with participation from existing backers CBMM, BGF, and Cambridge Enterprise Ventures. The capital will support the company in executing its go-to-market strategy and scaling commercial production of its proprietary XNO anode material. The financing marks Volta Energy Technologies' first investment in a European-headquartered company, underscoring Echion's growing prominence in the international energy storage sector.
