Echion Technologies develops advanced niobium anode materials designed to improve the performance, charge speed, and safety of lithium-ion batteries.

Echion Technologies has secured £1.5m in funding led by Origin Capital to support the development of its advanced lithium-ion battery technology. The company, which originated as a Cambridge University spin-out, aims to produce battery cells capable of charging significantly faster than standard options while maintaining energy density and safety.

The capital, bolstered by a £600k Innovate UK grant, will enable the firm to transition its product from laboratory scale to vehicle-ready industrial cells over the next eighteen months. Echion is collaborating with industrial partners such as Vantage Power, a hybrid bus developer in Origin's portfolio.
