South East Angels has backed Manchester-based medical technology startup EarSwitch to support clinical validation and licensing.

Manchester-based medical technology company EarSwitch has secured investment from South East Angels to support its clinical validation programme and licensing strategy.
The funding will help the company embed its in-ear biometric sensor technology across regulated medical device sectors, addressing measurement inaccuracies found in standard pulse oximeters, particularly for patients with darker skin.
Founded by NHS doctor Dr Nick Gompertz, EarSwitch offers the EarMetrics system to measure vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation from the ear canal. The technology is intended for licensing into existing manufacturer product lines to help them meet regulatory requirements and mitigate litigation risks.
