The company closed its first equity funding round with backing from seventeen angel investors and Seedrs.
Darksquare operates an alternative investment platform that provides individuals with access to asset classes previously restricted to institutional investors and the ultra wealthy. The marketplace connects retail investors with curated opportunities such as forestry, renewable energy and distressed credit.
Darksquare has secured £260k in its first equity funding round to support product development and team expansion ahead of its platform launch. The capital comes from seventeen angel investors alongside participation through Seedrs from a total of 208 backers.
The funds will be directed towards building out product capabilities, marketing, legal and compliance functions. This follows growing retail investor demand for portfolio diversification away from traditional equities and cryptocurrencies into alternative asset classes.
