Cosine raises $2.5m from Uphonest and Lakestar to launch artificial intelligence developer Genie

Cosine builds frontier artificial intelligence models trained entirely on domestic infrastructure for regulated and sensitive sectors.
Cosine has secured $2.5m in a funding round led by US venture firm Uphonest Capital, with additional backing from Lakestar and Focal. The capital will support the ongoing development of its flagship artificial intelligence developer, Genie.
Founded in 2022 by Alistair Pullen, Sam Stenner, and Yang Li, the London based human reasoning laboratory aims to build autonomous systems capable of handling open-ended software engineering tasks. The startup recently reported a notable performance milestone on the SWE-Bench coding evaluation.
The investment follows growing industry interest in autonomous coding agents that can operate independently within existing software repositories. Cosine plans to scale its operations as it advances towards artificial general intelligence.
