Compact Syngas Solutions has secured £4m in government backing to advance its carbon capture technology. The funding stems from the UK government competition designed to support innovations driving towards net zero emissions by 2050.
The capital was awarded through a dedicated innovation programme managed by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. The firm will deploy the resources to build a full-scale demonstration rig using membrane separation to capture carbon dioxide during hydrogen production without hazardous chemicals.
The initiative involves running the newly constructed apparatus continuously for 1,000 hours to prove commercial reliability. The project aims to yield everyday hydrogen outputs alongside substantial carbon capture, forming part of a broader plan to establish multiple hydrogen modules across several regional sites.
