Commonplace raises £3m in a Series A round led by Beringea to fund expansion

The Series A round was led by Beringea and will support team growth and platform development.

Commonplace operates a digital platform that connects communities with local authorities and property developers for public consultation. The service helps shape neighbourhoods and infrastructure projects across the United Kingdom.

Commonplace has secured £3m in a Series A funding round led by Beringea. The digital consultation platform will direct the capital towards expanding its team and enhancing its technology as local authorities and developers navigate post lockdown recovery.

The company works with over 70 local authorities and major developers including Transport for London and Grosvenor to facilitate public consultation on housing and urban projects. This financing arrives as the Government focuses on the housing and infrastructure sectors to drive economic recovery following the pandemic.

The fresh capital will enable the firm to increase headcount across development, sales, and marketing functions. Commonplace aims to scale its operations to meet rising demand for digital consultation tools as urban centres adapt to new social distancing measures and planning reforms.

From the founder

"With almost one and a half million people already using Commonplace to engage with more than 400 conversations about places they care for, we have already demonstrated the real desire from digitally connected communities to be engaged in constructive dialogue. Itis even more vital now as we all try to shape a better future for our towns and cities to support health and well-being in our built environment, public spaces and transport infrastructure in the new normal. I am delighted that this investment is enabling us to treble our team and expand our offer to customers at a time when we know many SMEs are fighting to survive."

Through fostering collaboration between local people, authorities and developers, Commonplace will create a dialogue about how we can adapt neighbourhoods for the better, creating safety and economic prosperity in the process."
