CMR Surgical secures £133m from major investors to drive product innovation and commercial growth

The upsized funding round was led by existing backers including Ally Bridge Group and Lightrock.

CMR Surgical develops the Versius Surgical Robotic System, a widely adopted soft tissue surgical robot used in tens of thousands of procedures worldwide. Headquartered in Cambridge, the company works to make robotic minimal access surgery more accessible.

CMR Surgical has secured £133m in an upsized funding round led by its major existing backers to drive product innovation and commercial expansion. The capital will support further technological developments and international growth as adoption of the Versius surgical system accelerates across multiple medical specialties worldwide.

The financing follows a series of operational milestones for the business, including surpassing 15,000 surgical procedures globally and receiving professional education accreditation from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Major investors participating in the round include Ally Bridge Group, Cambridge Innovation Capital, Escala Capital, LGT, Lightrock, RPMI Railpen, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Tencent and Watrium.
