CMR Surgical raises more than £154m in debt and equity to expand commercial reach of its surgical robot

The financing round was backed by existing major investors and new participant Trinity Capital.

£154M

CMR Surgical develops the Versius Surgical Robotic System, a widely adopted soft tissue surgical robot used in tens of thousands of procedures worldwide. Headquartered in Cambridge, the company works to make robotic minimal access surgery more accessible.

CMR Surgical has secured more than £154m in a new debt and equity financing round backed by existing investors alongside new backer Trinity Capital. The company will direct the capital towards accelerating the global commercialisation of its Versius Surgical Robotic System, with a particular focus on entering the United States market. Funds will also support ongoing product development and clinical trials.

Versius ranks as the second most utilised soft tissue surgical robot globally, having completed over 30,000 procedures across more than 30 countries. The latest injection of capital follows expanding international adoption and clinical studies spanning pediatric surgery and transoral robotic procedures.
