Clyde Hydrogen Systems has secured over £1m in a pre-seed funding round comprising equity and grants. Backing came from Zinc, the University of Glasgow, and several angel investors. The capital will be directed towards expanding the research and development team, accelerating technology development, and forging strategic partnerships in the energy sector.
The Scottish university spinout focuses on decoupled electrolyser technology designed to deliver high pressure green hydrogen safely at scale and at low cost. The approach aims to match renewable energy generation with hydrogen production more effectively than existing methods.
Chairman Dr Jos Trehern noted that the funding validates the company's vision for accessible and cost-effective green hydrogen. Investors highlighted the importance of supporting deep science innovations that address environmental challenges and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
