ClearScore secures £144m growth private equity investment from Invus Opportunities to accelerate global expansion.
Strategic investor Invus Opportunities has backed the profitable UK consumer finance company to support its international growth.
ClearScore operates a prominent credit marketplace that provides free credit reports and financial products to millions of consumers globally. The profitable firm combines sophisticated algorithms with consumer finance tools to help users manage their financial health.
ClearScore has secured £144m in growth private equity from Invus Opportunities at a valuation of £504m equivalent, adding a strategic partner to accelerate its international expansion. Existing backers including QED, Blenheim Chalcot, and Lead Edge Capital retained the majority of their positions alongside management, while Invus took a significant minority stake.
The capital injection follows a period of sustained profitability for the consumer finance platform, which currently serves more than 14 million customers across three continents. Alongside the transaction, Benjamin Tsai of Invus Opportunities has joined the board of directors, while co-founders Nigel Morris and Justin Basini remain as Chairman and Chief Executive respectively.
While the profitable fintech did not strictly require external capital, leadership opted to partner with Invus due to its long term strategic track record. The proceeds will support ongoing investments in expanding the workforce, enhancing the product suite, and scaling operations internationally.
