Chatterbox has raised £1.5m in a funding round led jointly by Guardian Media Group Ventures and All Turtles. The capital will enable the online language learning platform to expand its services and further its mission of integrating marginalised communities into the digital economy.
The company pairs corporate clients with degree-educated professionals from refugee backgrounds and other underrepresented groups who teach their native languages. This recent injection of capital follows a period of growth that has seen the firm secure prominent corporate clients such as Unilever and the British Red Cross.
With ongoing talent shortages in the technology sector, Chatterbox intends to deploy the funds toward developing its diversity as a service offering, alongside targeted recruitment across product development, learning, sales, and marketing.
