Cellexcel secures investment from Anglia Capital Group and New Anglia Capital

Cellexcel develops chemical modification technology that improves the water resistance of plant-based biomaterials. Its process enables manufacturers to use sustainable composites in high-performance external applications.

Norwich-based Cellexcel has secured investment from Anglia Capital Group and the New Anglia Capital fund, alongside grant backing from Innovate UK. The company has developed proprietary technology designed to prevent plant-based biomaterials from absorbing moisture, allowing them to be deployed in structural applications traditionally reliant on carbon-intensive materials such as fibreglass and metal. The capital will support further technological progress and commercial exploitation across sectors including automotive and aerospace.

Cellexcel originated from research conducted at the University of East Anglia and Norwich Research Park. Its treatment aims to broaden the use of carbon-capturing materials in manufacturing, helping industries reduce both operational and embedded emissions.
