The funding from the Development Bank of Wales will enable the practice to establish a new operating theatre and safeguard nine jobs.
Camlas Farm Vets is an independent veterinary practice providing dedicated care for farm animals across Powys and Shropshire. The practice supports commercial farms and smallholders with fieldwork and livestock health management.
Camlas Farm Vets has secured an £80k loan from the Development Bank of Wales to relocate to larger premises. The funding will allow the practice to convert a renovated bungalow into a facility featuring an operating theatre for handling cases such as lambing difficulties during peak seasons.
Run by Amy McKie alongside co-partners Fflur and Iolo, the independent practice outgrew its original location after six years of operation. The capital will also safeguard nine existing jobs and provide the business with capacity for future growth.

"The new premises is still very accessible and near the local livestock market. We have renovated a bungalow for commercial use. Whilst we usually treat the animals offsite, during the lambing season it’s common for farmers to bring ewes with lambing difficulties to the practice. One of the things we are using the loan for is to convert one of the rooms into an operating theatre."
