Brill Power secures £8.7m Series A investment led by Legal & General Capital and Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital Programme
The funding will support team growth and product development for energy storage and electric vehicles.
Brill Power develops intelligent battery management systems designed to improve performance and extend lifespan across stationary storage and electric vehicles. Originating from research at the University of Oxford, the company provides hardware and software solutions intended to accelerate the transition to zero emissions.
Oxford University spin-out Brill Power has secured £8.7m in Series A funding to expand its team and develop new products for the stationary energy storage and electric vehicle sectors. The investment round was co-led by Legal & General Capital and Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital Programme, with participation from existing backers including Oxford Science Enterprises, Oxford Investment Consultants and the University of Oxford. Shell Ventures and Climate Kic also joined as new shareholders.
The capital will support the company as it increases its engineering and commercial headcount and advances its remote analytics platform. Brill Power aims to scale its proprietary active loading technology, which optimises battery life and energy discharge through combined hardware and software control.
