Basecamp Research has secured £16.1m in Series A funding to expand its team and develop its product portfolio. The investment round was led by Systemiq Ventures, with participation from Valo, Blue Horizon, True Ventures, and Hummingbird Ventures. The capital will support the company in validating internal products and scaling operations across sectors such as pharmaceuticals and agriculture.
The London based company constructs extensive biological databases from global expeditions, maintaining ethical benefit sharing models with local guardians. Recent advancements in bioinformatics and machine learning enable the firm to map natural biodiversity and uncover novel protein characteristics.
