Barton Blakeley is a UK-based carbon utilisation company that converts industrial carbon emissions into synthetic silica and clean energy.
Barton Blakeley has secured £2.4m in funding led by Elbow Beach Capital, which contributed £1.7m to the round. The capital will enable the company to deploy its carbon utilisation technology at an industrial factory for the first time, moving from a test plant to on-site industrial integration.
Founded in 2016, the firm has developed a chemical process that permanently captures carbon dioxide emissions and converts them into clean energy and synthetic silica. This alternative production method provides a greener and cheaper domestic supply of silica for applications in optical fibres, semiconductors, and telecommunications.
The freshly secured funds will support the commercialisation process and the rollout of modular units designed to help industrial partners reduce their carbon footprint.
