Cambridge-based cleantech startup Barocal has secured £1.3m in funding to accelerate the commercialisation of its climate-friendly cooling and heating technology. The round was led by IP Group, with participation from Cambridge Enterprise.
Barocal's technology uses solid-state barocaloric materials instead of conventional refrigerant gases, offering a low-cost, non-toxic and recyclable alternative for household and commercial climate control. The funds will support the firm as it expands the application of its research into domestic heating systems as an alternative to traditional heat pumps.
