Aurora Avionics secures over £320k in pre-seed funding from Gabriel Investment Syndicate and Scottish Enterprise

Aurora Avionics produces universal electrical systems and software that act as the nervous system for rockets. The company aims to provide off-the-shelf avionics to help launch vehicle manufacturers reduce costs and development time.
Aurora Avionics has secured over £320k in pre-seed funding from Gabriel Investment Syndicate and Scottish Enterprise. The capital will enable the Edinburgh-based space firm to accelerate research and design while expanding its engineering team.
Founded in 2023 by former Orbex colleagues Oren Smith-Carpenter and Rowland Fraser, the company is developing modular off-the-shelf avionics to simplify rocket launches. The latest investment follows earlier backing from the European Space Agency and puts the firm on track to test a full prototype within a year.
