Auralytica develops colour-changing holographic hydrogel sensors designed to detect and measure food spoilage in real time.
Auralytica has closed a £350k funding round backed by HERmesa and Carbon13 to scale up production and advance its commercial rollout.
The deep-tech company produces holographic hydrogel sensors that change colour to indicate chemical changes caused by food spoilage, offering an alternative to traditional use-by dates.
The capital will support the business as it moves from co-development with packaging and food producers toward wider market introduction.
From the founder
"Food safety shouldn’t be a guessing game. We’ve built a sensor that does the sniff test for you — turning an invisible chemical signal into something anyone in the supply chain can read at a glance. When you can read the quality of every pack, you can build intelligence about the whole supply chain that has never existed before. With HERmesa’s backing, we can move faster from co-development to commercial rollout and get our technology into the hands of the manufacturers and retailers who need it most."

Investor perspective
"Anna and Sam are an excellent team — they have the technical depth to develop genuinely novel deep tech, alongside the capital efficiency, coachability and pace that we love to see in great founders."
