Astratus is a University of Reading spin-out developing rapid microbiology testing technology to accelerate personalised antimicrobial prescribing.
Astratus has secured £385k in a funding round featuring investment from members of Henley Business Angels. The capital will be used to support the company in accelerating rapid testing solutions designed to address antimicrobial resistance.
Antimicrobial resistance remains a significant global healthcare challenge, with deaths projected to reach high levels by 2050. Standard microbiology testing methods often create laboratory bottlenecks by taking several days to deliver results, limiting the scalability of effective prescribing.
The investment will aid Astratus in its efforts to transform slow traditional workflows through scalable rapid microbiology, helping to improve antibiotic prescribing practices.
