Aston Particle Technologies has created a dry powder coating system for the pharmaceutical industry that avoids heat and solvents.
Aston Particle Technologies has secured £1m in funding led by DSW Ventures, with participation from Aston University and an alumnus.
The Birmingham-based company has created an isothermal dry particle coating process designed to simplify pharmaceutical manufacturing without the use of damaging heat or solvents. Its lead product is an inhalable anti-fungal drug formulated to reduce side effects compared to traditional tablets.
The capital will be used to scale manufacturing capabilities to meet current good manufacturing practice standards, expand product development and commercial teams, and accelerate partnerships with pharmaceutical firms.
